These adults took things a little too far and ended up getting arrested themselves, when trying to stop teenage car thieves.
The trio chased down two 14-year-old boys who they suspected stole a car and forced them into the trunk of their own car at gunpoint. They then took them to the local police station, but got into a little trouble themselves when the cops saw the boys in the trunk.
Kenyatta Ware II, 21, George Barnes, 29, and Sheila Beale, 49, were all arrested and charged with felonious assault and kidnapping. They remain in jail as they await their first court appearance.
It is unknown if the two boys have been formally charged, but they were arrested on suspicion of grand theft of a motor vehicle.
So how in the world did things get to this point? It all started when the two teens stole a car that belonged to the mother of one of the men who got arrested.
The three adults tracked the car through a GPS locator inside of the stolen vehicle and caught up with them shortly after. They immediately got out of the car, pulled guns out on the teens and said, “You stole the wrong car…” according to the police reports. Barnes even fired several gunshots into the car.
The teens weren’t deterred and sped off with the trio following in their own car. The kids ended up hitting several utility poles during the chase.
The boys finally jumped a curb and crashed into a townhouse, causing extensive damage to the home and car.
Barnes and Ware immediately ordered the teens out of the car with their guns, punched the kids and stomped on them. They then ordered them to get into the trunk of their own car and proceeded to take the kids to the local police station.
The adults were arrested at the police station and admitted to attacking the teens and forcing them into the trunk. The teens were taken to the hospital for treatment, and faced their own charges after they were discharged.
