A man was arrested after he shot down a drone that was being used to find a missing dog.
Dezi the dog had recently been adopted, but jumped a fence at her new home and a local group who specializes in searching for lost pets came to the rescue.
The search group was using a Mavic 2 Zoom drone to search for the dog in the late afternoon on a Saturday, when the device suddenly stopped working. Upon further review, the members of the group found the drone and realized that it had been shot down and they immediately called the police.
Officers found out that Gerard Chasteen, 26, had shot at the drone three times from his backyard and hit the device. The police also confiscated several shotguns from his home. Chasteen was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal mischief and was further prohibited to use a weapon. He received a ticket on the scene and is expected to appear in court soon.
No word yet on if Dezi was finally found, but we sure hope so!
